Personal Information on Copy Machines

Copiers preserve images of your copiers on their internal hard drives

Most people realize that personal information can be retrieved off of old hard drives left in a computer, but many people may not be aware that most commercial copiers built since 2002 have a hard drive that stores the images that were copied, scanned, or faxed from the machine. A typical copier's hard drive may have 20,000 images of documents that went thru the machine. Many companies that use copy machines may not realize that the images are still on the hard drive when they get rid of their copiers.

When making copies on a copier that is outside of your control you may want to protect sensitive personal information such as social security numbers and banking numbers.
